My Take

My take on this business opportunity.

First, the products sold by Amway through an IBO are very good.
Whenever a products is stamped Organic it will be more expensive.
I have found a lot of good products in my store and I love using them. But of course they are expensive so I have to limit my spending based on other bills that come in during the month.

So right now I am not purchasing anything from my store, due to no extra money and the fact that I hit 6% BV last month and got a lousy $23 Bonus Check!

I cannot work the business the same as my uplines due to work contraints already in place. I am not gonna quit a job I worked for 28 years and will get a decent retirement out of it to replace it with a dream business.

I work 2nd Shift and the Amway IBO Business is based on a 1st Shift Job. It can be tailored to other shifts, but your contact time with prospects is severly limited.

This is a average week for an IBO whose primary job is 1st Shift

Monday thru Friday work 8-4

Monday Night              Show the Plan to 2 People   1800-2200
Tuesday Night              Open Meeting Out of Town 1900-2100
Wednesday Night         Show the Plan to 2 People   1800-2200
Thursday Night            Show the Plan to 2 People    1800-2200
Friday Night                 PASE Meeting                      1900-2200

Sunday Day                  Search the Malls for Contacts 1400-1600

The above is what is expected out of you, now below is my schedule

Monday thru Friday 1530 to 2330 and Sat or Sun 1500-2300

Sunday Night               Phone Meeting                       1900-2100

So due to my already screwed up schedule I cannot show the plan, attend all the meetings and conferances, and this is not the only reason my business is NOT growing.

Most people I talked to are genuilly not interested.

Show the Plan

Once you learn how to Show the Plan you will have to go out and make contacts for a future meeting to show the plan.

The plan showing is the easy part. Most of your contacts are looking for additional income. They do get excited when they hear the plan. If you can get them to sign up right a way and keep working on them you might get someone who is successful.

Most of the time you show the plan and they say that they are very interested, but when you followup and hopefully get them to sign up they refuse the opportunity for many reasons.

Here is a short list on why they don't want to start this business:

Victim 1      Male, 19     No Job, No Income
Victim 2      Husband/Wife 30's    No time
Victim 3      Male 52      No Job, very little income
Victim 4      Husband/Wife 40's    Looking at another business
Victim 5      Husband/Wife 50's   Not people persons

So you can see that the above could or would not start of business, and none of them stated Pyramid Scheme. Most of them its just the fact that after they saw the business and realized how much you got to spend to get a profit is ridicoulos!

So after you get through your lists, now you have to make new contacts from the blind. So your upline takes you to a Mall to prospect for contacts. My issue with that is most of the time you are in a store shopping, you don't need someone trying to sell you a business plan!

Understanding Growth

Well now you are about 6 months into a good business opportunity. Now you realize that the business is large and you are a little cog in the wheel. You have now identified with who your uplines are all the way to the top of the chain. The people at the top are getting 1 Million or more revenue from Amway each month. You are connected to them by the so called "legs".

Now you hear from friends at work that you are in a Pryamid Scheme and what you are doing is illegal. This is FALSE!

The Business uses a Model that does resemble a Pryamid in its largest format, but where you are at this stage is not a pyramid.

The Federal Government investigated Amway or then known as Quixtar. They found that this was not a pyramid because pyramids take money and deliver nothing in return, Quixtar sells products and this is the difference.

After you know all this your upline will be giving you training cd/dvds to listen too. You will get 5-6 per week. Then there are the books that you will be asked to read. Later you will be told you have to go to a Major Training Conferance.

Once you have done all this, you realize that this business opportunity is really a full time job and you cannot manage this while working your real paying job!

The only way you can build your business at this point is to SHOW THE PLAN!

Show the Product

Well after you start your store the following happends. You purchase your first order from your store. And you charge $400 to your credit card.

Then you have an Open House displaying your products with the help from your uplines who also supply product. The goal is to invite as many people as you can to show them the products and hopefully get some sales out of it.

The first show I did no one showed up. I invited about 10 people and none of them showed.

The second show I did at a local fire station. The only way I could get 3 people to sit there was to purchase them lunch, and of course I had no sales from that event.

Luckily one of the Firefighters later purchased XS Energy and a Mens Pack Vitamins.

I started carrying product with me at work and had limited success with that.

The goal here is to show, show, and show the product so that people will buy it.
The problem here is that all the items are overpriced at retail, so you feel sorry for the folks, or its one of your family or friends, so you sell at wholesale - there goes your profit for that month!

The first meeting

The first meeting of your new career starts as a short 45 minute one on one meeting with your prospective upline.

This is the meeting where you are told that in 18 months you could be recieving $3000K per month. The upline will ask you what are your dreams - new house, car, renovations, debt reduction and so on and so forth.

You are also told that if you follow the program you too will suceed just like other uplines.

You will be told you will save a lot of money in the grocery store, because instead of buying products at Stop and Shop, you buy out of your own store at wholesale pricing. Plus when you sell product to your family and friends, you sell at retain, and then the difference is sent to you. Then if you achieve 50 Points Value of Customer, and 100 Points Value from yourself you will get a 3% bonus of your BV.

So I started my IBOship and after a slow startup I was able to get 3% Bonus every month for about 8 months.
